Catholic Charities was founded in 1917 based on the belief that people have a right and a duty to participate in society and to seek the common good and well-being of all, especially the poor and vulnerable. For 83 years, Catholic Charities has been proud to welcome people of all faiths, races, and lifestyles. Through the 1950’s, Catholic Charities primarily operated in the urban areas of Albany, Schenectady, and Troy where volunteers and religious women worked with orphaned children, foster and adoptive families, and hospitals. . . .
